Expiring Passport??

It was getting time to head north so we said goodbye to our Long Island friends.  As we started to make our way it became obvious that our auto pilot had again, gone on the blink.  This is what the hydraulic fluid looked like!

 

We made it back to Eleuthera hand steering and while emailing back & forth with Garmin and the company in England who actually made the part we decided to rent a car & do some exploring at & near Cape Eleuthera.

 

While in Rock Sound we were going to renew our visas and the lady informed Rob that she could not give him a 90 day extension as his passport was due to expire in less than a month!  That changed everything as we had to be back in the US before that happened.  We tried to call the US Embassy in Nassau but got an endless phone loop and never a live human!

We had to cancel plans with our Bahamian friends Josh & Carol and leave.  we ended up hand steering with a very dirty boat bottom (diver was a no show) all the way back to the U.S.  Not fun

This was our shortest stay in the Bahamas since we started in 2002!  We will try to make up for it during the 2017/2018 season!
