Rob & I arrives at Galliant Cut and had a wonderful view of the waves crashing onto a small reef that kept things nice and quiet where we were. The next morning we went to Big Majors Spot – near Thunderball Grotto. Big Majors is home to a Bahamian phenomena, the swimming pigs. They are feral pigs that live on the island and are accustomed to boaters feeding them. Over the years we have watched them go from piglets to adults to gone. Was that last weeks pig-roast?? Just kidding, but we have watched them grow. They will come out to the dinghies looking for food and sometimes become aggressive. They have put holes in 2 dinks this year that we saw on the beach. That is like totaling your car with no way to replace it out here. Here are some pics:

After the “harmless” one chased me back to the dink we went off with Roger & Jane for an afternoon dink ride to explore one of the ocean side islands.

We decides to head up towards the Exuma Land & Sea Park the next day but as usual there is always a catch….. We had heard while in Black Point that there was absolutely no gasoline to be had ! This was from our cruising friends Mark & Marlene on Puffin. We were in need of diesel fuel and decided to get it at Sampson Cay Marina as it was on the way. Staniel Cay Marina was a mile or so south of us so off we went to Sampson. Sereno55 is larger & faster than us and arrived at the entrance channel well ahead of us. Per custom, they hailed the marina and were told –No Diesel, No Diesel!! Both vessels did an about-face and now we were off to Staniel Cay. By the time this evolution was complete it was 12:30! No way would we make out original destination but off we went anyway. Given the water depths in the Bahamas you often have to go around your butt to reach your elbow and that was the case that day. Late afternoon had us where??? Sampson Cay! We were at the north end of the cay and it was beautiful. Once we got out of the surge from Conch Cut it was lovely! Over to Sereno55 to discuss weather, back to Rosie, up with the outboard, dinghy on deck & ready to cross back to Eleuthera.

So the next morning we are underway and after leaving the Exuma Land & Sea park we set out our fishing lines. I was below when first one and then the second line start screaming! Rob takes the starboard rod & I the port. The fish on mine spit the hook and the picture shows what happened to Rob’s rod! We probably did not want either fish in the cockpit with us!
That had to be some fish!
Well, we are back in Rock Sound awaiting yet another cold front. Will amble along Eleuthera waiting for Sereno55 and Easter. It is always a blast here & the Church is beautiful too! More later.
